Retirement Plan Security Enhancements

Two-Factor Authentication #

Two-factor authentication is now available for your retirement plan online account.

Two-step verification is a second login step that helps to verify your identity when accessing your online account. This added layer of protection helps keep your data secure from unauthorized access.

Once a you set up 2FA for your account, it’ll become part of the login process. After logging in with your Login ID and password, you’ll be asked to enter a temporary security code that has been sent to either your email or phone – whichever option you chose when setting it up. Security codes are only available for a few minutes and may only be used once.

Before Getting Started… #

If you haven’t logged in for a while, your account credentials may have expired. If you have trouble logging in, or need help resetting your Login ID or password, please contact us at 1-800-858-6989.

Once you log in, you may be asked to complete an Account Setup process to fill out any missing information. This is a one-time process, and it should only take a minute or two.

Setting up 2FA for your account #

  1. Log into your online account at erisa.net
  2. Once logged in, you’ll be prompted to set up the 2FA feature. You can choose to receive a security code by either text message or email.
  3. After setting your preference, you will receive a security code to confirm.

Changing Your Preferences #

You may change your 2FA preferences through your online account.

  • Go to My Profile and select Two-Step Verification from the profile menu.
  • Choose your preferred delivery method and frequency,
  • Enter your current password.
  • Click Continue. You’ll receive a security code to confirm.

Disconnect Account Aggregators #

Account aggregators are blocked. You may be using services that provide a consolidated view of your financial records. Login credentials are stored with the services, which then systematically access and record your account information. With 2FA, you could receive a prompt to enter the security code each time the service attempts to access their account. To prevent this from happening, these services are blocked. Please remove your retirement account from any aggregators before proceeding.

Trust a Device #

You can tell us to trust a device so you don’t have to enter a security code when you log in using that device.

To use this feature, choose the option Only on untrusted devices when you set up two-step verification. Then select Trust this device when you log in using a device that should be trusted, such as a personal phone or computer.

A device’s trusted status will expire if you don’t log in using that device for 90 days.
